A playful, intuitive, sound-led method of songwriting
Step One:
- Pick two chords that sound good together (e.g. G and Em).
- Add strumming (try picking one note at a time).
Step Two:
Listen to the rhythm and mumble along to it.
Step Three:
- Add words. Don’t overthink it. Doesn’t have to make any sense.
- Now make it make sense.
Step Four:
Write the chorus.
Ways to make it exciting:
- Play louder.
- Add an extra chord (or two).
- Sing in a higher pitch.
